Christian Formation Ministry
PURPOSE:
The Christian Formation Commission provides opportunities for spiritual growth and education for the whole family of God.
'For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.' Matthew 18:20

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:
Education in the Christian life is not only for children and young people! Adults are also lifelong learners as we all grow into the 'full stature of Christ' (Ephesians 4). Adults benefit from several educational offerings on Sunday mornings after the 10:00 am worship service. Adult Forums generally are four-to-six week series on selected topics relating our faith to our lives in the world. Speakers include St. Anthony's clergy and parishioners as well as outside guests.

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING:
The Daughters of the King is a religious order for women in the Episcopal Church. Members pledge themselves to a lifelong program of prayer, service and personal evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom, and to the strengthening of the spiritual life of their parish. The purpose of the order is to bring others to know and accept Jesus Christ while deepening their own relationship with God through prayer and service.

EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY:
Education for Ministry (EFM) is a four-year course offered for laypeople in local congregations by the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. It includes readings and discussions of the Bible (Old and New Testament), church history and theology. It also includes personal work by group members to discover and refine their own ministries within the church. Significant reading is required. Enrollment takes place each fall for the coming year. The course fee is $340 (a reduced fee is available in case of need). Two seminar groups meets on Wednesday mornings and two groups meet on Thursday nights.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY PROGRAMS Helping children come closer to God…..
Children’s Chapel for children in kindergarten through third grade gathers in the Parish hall on 1st, 2nd, 4th, (and 5th) Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. Closely shadowing the liturgy and celebration in the main sanctuary the children and their leaders engage with the call to worship, music, prayer, and story. Each week junior worship leaders and acolytes serve as part of the liturgical gathering. We ‘set the table’ with liturgical colors and other important and sacred objects. A creative learning activity, based on the Gospel, is also included. The children rejoin the congregation in the main sanctuary at the time of the Peace.

YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAMS Seeking and finding the Christ….
Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
Rite-13 is for youth in grades 6 and 7. It is a foundation for the rest of the program and focuses on recognizing the gifts God has given us, celebrating our creative potential, and learning to interact as a community of faith. Rite-13 meets on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, (and 5th) Sunday of each month at 11:15 am – 12:15 pm in the Comfort Room. On the 1st Sunday of each month the group joins the J2A group for a combined lunch and youth group from 11:15 am – 1:00 pm in the Youth Room.
J2A is for youth in grades 8 and 9. The bulk of the program happens in these two years, building on the foundation of the Rite-13 experience. During these years the youth learn and practice six basic skills of adulthood: active listening, negotiation, assertion, research and information management, partnership and leadership. The end of the second year of J2A is marked by Confirmation and the group designing and going on a Holy Pilgrimage. J2A meets on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, (and 5th) Sunday of each month at 11:15 am – 12:15 pm in the Youth Room. On the 1st Sunday of each month the group joins the Rite-13 group for a combined lunch and youth group from 11:15 am – 1:00 pm in the Youth Room.

YAC is for grades 10-12 and stands for Young Adults in Church. YAC youth are encouraged to accept more adult responsibilities and to contribute their time, talent and treasure to support the ongoing work of the church. This group goes on a Mission Trip each summer. The YAC group meets for supper and program on Wednesdays from 5:45 – 7:45 pm in the Youth Room.

Registration for all youth programs is ongoing on Sunday mornings.

THE CHALICE PLAYERS offers dramatic representations of the scripture readings on Third Sundays. This group rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in the church. As well as helping to lead the worship on third Sundays, the Chalice Players offer special worship experiences such as the Christmas Pageant, Palm Sunday liturgy, and the Way of the Cross on Good Friday.

On the Third Sunday of each month the 10:00 service features language and liturgy designed especially for children. A Children’s Story replaces the sermon, the Chalice Players dramatize the scripture and the prayers are led by our youth. The liturgy also includes the Children’s Creed and the Children’s Eucharistic Prayer. Young choristers help to provide music leadership.
