St. Anthony on the Desert Church

Fellowship Ministry
PURPOSE:
The Fellowship Commission celebrates St. Anthony’s family atmosphere through a collection of small group opportunities for getting to know each other better, and by welcoming all who choose to visit our church home.
'Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that,
some have entertained angels without knowing it.'
Hebrews 13:2

ARTS COUNCIL:
The Arts Council coordinates the ongoing art displays in the Parish Hall, and makes recommendations for future showings.

AVID READERS:
An ongoing group of people who love to read and discuss books. Each month (September through June) features a different book selection. Participants can pick and choose the books they want to read, and attend accordingly. The master list of books is decided on by the group members.

DESERT DINERS:
A food and fellowship ministry that consists of small groups which meet at each other's homes for potluck meals. Group membership rotates every fall and spring offering newcomers a great opportunity for meeting new people, and current members the occasion of building their spiritual family relationships.

HOSPITALITY:
The Hospitality Committee plans and arranges for refreshments between the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Sunday services. It is the committee's goal to make sure that parishioners and visitors feel welcome each and every Sunday. Having refreshments creates a very congenial atmosphere and always promotes friendly conversation. The responsibilities of the host include: engaging the assistance of 3 - 5 people to bring food, consisting of breads, fruits, pastries, etc.; supervising preparation of coffee, lemonade and tea provided by the church; and seeking assistants for serving and cleanup.

THE MEN OF ST ANTHONY:
The Men's Ministry Group is a fellowship for men of all ages. Monthly breakfast meetings foster new friendships and handle business items. Outreach is an important part of this group from sponsoring a Boy Scout troop to making lunches and dinners for the East Mesa Men's Center. The Men's Ministry serves the church through work efforts to improve the church grounds and to raise money for various church needs. Please watch the church bulletin for ministry activities.

MOTHERS OF PRESCHOOLERS (MOPS):
MOPS is a fellowship group for moms of preschool age children (newborn thru 5 yrs old). MOPS is open to moms of all denominations. Together, we create an atmosphere that celebrates motherhood, meets our unique needs as moms of younger children, and connects us to one another. During our MOPS meetings, we enjoy brunch along with guest speakers, discussion, crafts, and hands-on service projects. Childcare is provided during our meetings. Please check out our MOPS bulletin board next to the nursery for more information including registration forms, brochures, and fun pics of our group. MOPS (moms & kids) meet alternating Fridays in the Parish Hall at 9:30 a.m. starting on Sept. 9th.
