St. Anthony on the Desert Social Connections

Desert Diners
Desert Diners are dinner groups that have been created to provide parishioners an informal social setting to become better acquainted, share life experiences and make new friends. Participants sign up twice a year in the fall and spring. Each group of six to eight adults comes together for a shared potluck meal, usually at the homes of the participants; however, it could be at a local restaurant, the Parish Hall, club house, etc. For more information contact Debbie Aikins or Cindy Creamer.

Hospitality Ministry The Hospitality Ministry, while providing refreshments after both Sunday worship services in addition to many other events that may take place, perhaps more importantly provides the venue for relaxed conversation and getting to know each other a little better. This atmosphere grows new friendships and spiritual connections. For more information contact Leanne Murrillo or Barbara Ells.

Ministry of Mothers of St. Anthony (MOM-OSA)
MOM-OSA is group for moms in our community that focuses on supporting all aspects of motherhood through spiritual guidance. Meeting on alternating Thursdays, meetings include discussions based on curriculum, social interaction and outreach efforts. The Sister Circle Handbook is used as a guide for discussions. Childcare is provided. Social interactions include children’s play dates and Mom’s Nights Out (without children or husbands). These additional events bring the group together in an informal setting where we can talk casually about our busy lives. This group supports outreach for Singleton Moms, the St. Anthony Council Against Domestic Violence and Hearts and Hands Ministry, the pastoral care ministry. For information contact Karen Twibell.

The Welcome Team Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:1-2
The Welcome Team is a group of energetic, highly-dedicated members whose purpose is to offer radical hospitality to those who visit our campus. As guests are welcomed to share in our worship, teaching and outreach, the love of Christ is shown. Christian hospitality is to see Christ in every person. The Team assists guests, answers questions and creates a welcoming environment where people will feel comfortable and appreciated. A Google Site is maintained to post prayer requests, photos, celebrate and honor the gifts of each member and publish the Welcome Team schedule. If you have a heart for welcoming guests, and perhaps even entertaining angels, contact Jill Kyler.

Winter Residents and Seniors
The Winter Residents and Seniors group encourages winter residents and seniors to connect with each other and celebrate love for Christ by reaching out. Monthly gatherings take place in a variety of places...at church, in homes or other locations such as a city park or dinner theater. Outreach activities have included purchasing chickens, goats and mosquito nets for people around the globe and providing a micro-credit loan for honey producing. For more information contact Barbara Ells.

Wednesday Worship
Holy Communion & Healing Service
This noonday service combines prayers for healing with a celebration of the Eucharistic. This intimate service is held in our Chapel of St. Luke the Physician. Laying on of hands is offered for those seeking healing.

Sunday Worship
Holy Communion 8:00 a.m. Are you an early riser? Join us for a more intimate service of Holy Eucharist with organ and cantor.

Holy Communion 10:00 a.m. This service time meets the needs of many families as we offer a staffed nursery as well as programs for children and youth. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated with gifted musical support from our various choirs.

Third Sunday As the name suggests on the Third Sunday of each month (September through May) our 10 am service provides a special emphasis on children and youth. A bit more abbreviated liturgy incorporates a children’s sermon time and showcases our talented Chalice Players as they provide a dramatic rendering of our scripture stories.

Gratefulness - Word
Gratefulness – the simple response of our heart to this life in all its fullness – goes beyond boundaries of creed, age, vocation, gender, and nation. Start each day with a word of gratefulness.

Gratefulness - Labryinth
Take a moment during your day to walk the labyrinth. You’ll be so glad you did.
